studies

I sent my studies tonight and just waiting for the approved design. After this, I shall focus my energy in developing and executing the design. Gotta make this one really good!

Here it is

As soon as I got over my frustration, I did my best to come up with studies for my weather protection project..... because I don't have a choice. hihihihi

Checked my online survey today and it seemed that people of today stopped wearing raincoats because they felt that raincoats have been rejected already. The style is their main concern. So, that being given, I made 8 sketches of my improved raincoat.  The Amphibian!!!!

The Amphibian

The word amphibian derived from the ancient Greek term amphibios which means "both kinds of life." Therefore making these kind of animals adaptable to any kind of weather. The raincoat as we know it, can only be worn in wet environment or as it is called, only when it is raining. Now, I decided that one way to make people use raincoats once again is to make it wearable in different environments. One way I thought of is making the raincoats convertible.

A Raincoat has three 3 significant parts. The hood, used to protect the head from the rain as to avoid getting it wet. The sleeves, also has the same function for the arms. The body or the skirt, also has the same function for the torso and legs. Now! I've decided to make each of the three significant parts detachable giving the wearer freedom and control over it based on the weather he or she faces. I wanted to use leather material to make it very stylish and classic. Leather is also sleek and water will just slide of if it is used as a raincoat.
I am saving the other details for class. Anyhow, I am still needing 2 more sketches, but so just you get a glimpse of the initial designs, here are the 8 studies I already finished.

Frustrating

I am really frustrated today. I just realized how difficult it is to make ten innovative design studies in one week.  TEN! my goodness.

Group of professionals take months and even years to come up with a single innovative design and how am I suppose to make ten in one week without intensive training.

Now I got an instruction from my Creative Problem Solving prof, Ms. Mae Caralde, to make a new design for a garment that protects the body from weather. The first thing that came to my mind is the rainy weather because the rain has been very crazy lately. Now, I reflected on what I think is the best ever body protection from rain that has ever been created.... Was it the umbrella? Uhmmm not for me. I still get wet and also my bag always ends up soaking wet. Then I remembered how I used to go to kindergarten when I was younger during rainy days.

Yes! I used to wear raincoats! The only thing that gets wet is your feet. Your head is covered and the plastic just protects the body from the water because it just bounces or slides off. It's a clever invention. But.... but.... but.... nobody my age wears raincoats. Why?

The big question is why? and my quest for a new design of raincoat starts here.

I listed down some possible reasons and asked some online friends if they agree. Also asked them what would make em wear raincoats again.

Oh! Because of social media, it became easier for me to conduct a bit of a survey.
